An interesting study on the ability to recognize a person by their voice and what things, such as nonnative languages and dyslexia, may get in the way of that.

If you’ve studied comparative linguistics, you may have come across the idea that different languages have different numbers of colour terms/recognize more or less colours than other languages, etc. This is an article about that, with some links to other articles.
I can only speak on limited experience, from my second-year Russian requiring me to learn words for two different colours I would have collectively described as red, and from my first-year Japanese teacher explaining to me which greens were referred to as blue and which green in Japanese. It was cool.

A foray through linguistics into artificial intelligence, computers were given instruction manuals for various procedures (such as installing software or playing a video game) and gradually became very successful just through reading the manuals and trial and error.
